Chimney Cleaning & Repair

Chimney Cleaning in Johns Creek — Almost No Masonry Here at All.

Johns Creek is about as new as metro Atlanta gets — roughly seven in ten homes built since 1990 and barely one in a hundred before 1960. In practice that means nearly every fireplace we open here is factory-built. If somebody quotes you masonry repairs in Johns Creek, it is worth asking what exactly they looked at.

What We Find on Johns Creek Chimneys

About 7 in 10 homes in Johns Creek have been built since 1990 (U.S. Census, 2020–2024), and that single fact decides what is likely wrong with yours.

It is an appliance, not a structure

A factory-built fireplace is a tested, listed unit with a model number on a data plate. It is serviced to the manufacturer specification, not by a mason, and the parts are matched to the model. We read the plate first, every time.

The chase cover is where it starts

Water getting past a rusted or badly fitted chase cover is the single most common fault we find on these houses. It runs down inside the chase, out of sight, onto the framing. Catching it is cheap. Finding it through the ceiling is not.

Panels, gaskets, storm collar

Cracked refractory panels, perished door gaskets and a missing storm collar are the rest of the list. All replaceable, all model-specific, and none of them repairable with mortar.

If you have never had the chase cover and firebox properly looked at, that is the visit to book. Free, and you get the written price before anything happens.

What a Sweep Includes

A Proper Chimney Sweep, Not a Quick Brush

One visit covers the full flue, the firebox and everything on the roof — and you get a written free quote for any repair we find.

  • Full flue sweepingWe brush the complete flue from the firebox to the top of the stack, clearing creosote and soot the whole way up.
  • Firebox & damper cleanAsh, soot and debris removed, and we check the damper actually opens and seals the way it should.
  • Crown, cap & liner inspectionWe look for cracks in the crown, a missing or rusted cap, nesting animals and any damage to the liner.
  • Draft checkA chimney that doesn't draw properly pushes smoke back into the room. We test it before we leave.
  • Sealed, dust-free workWe seal off the fireplace opening and run our vacuum throughout, so the soot ends up in our equipment, not your living room.
Honest Pricing

Why we quote instead of listing a price

Chimney work isn’t one-size-fits-all. A single-storey flue that gets used twice a winter is a different job from a two-storey stack with a season of creosote on it.

So rather than advertise a number that changes the moment we arrive, we look at your actual chimney and give you a free estimate in writing — then you decide.

Chimney Repair

We Fix What the Sweep Uncovers

Most chimney problems start small and cheap. Left alone through a few Georgia winters, they stop being either.

Everything we repair, in one place ›

Crown Resealing

The concrete slab on top takes the weather first. Hairline cracks let water in, and freeze-thaw cycles widen them until the masonry starts coming apart. We reseal before that happens.

Cap Replacement

A missing or rusted-through cap is an open invitation for rain, leaves, squirrels and birds. A new stainless cap keeps all of it out and lasts for years.

How cap replacement works ›

Liner Repair

The liner is what keeps heat and combustion gases inside the flue instead of in your walls. If we find cracks or gaps, we'll show you and explain the options plainly.

Questions & Answers

Chimney Cleaning FAQ

The things people ask us most before booking.

My chimney looks like brick from outside. Why would it not be masonry?

Because in Johns Creek it very rarely is. The overwhelming majority of homes here went up from the nineties on, and the standard build is a steel firebox and insulated metal flue inside a framed chase, often finished with brick veneer. It looks like a chimney from the street and it is a different appliance on the roof. We confirm which before quoting.

Does a factory-built fireplace still need sweeping every year?

Yes, if you burn wood in it. It builds creosote the same way masonry does, and the metal flue has less thermal mass, so deposits form readily. It is swept differently and inspected differently — we are checking panels, gaskets and the chase cover as well as the flue — but the once-a-year rule is the same.

How much does chimney cleaning cost in Johns Creek?

It depends on the height of the chimney, the type of flue and how much creosote has built up since the last sweep. That's why we start with a free estimate — we look at your actual chimney and give you a flat written price before any work starts. No trip fee, no surprises.

How often should a chimney be swept?

Once a year if you use your fireplace regularly, and always before the first burn of the season. Even a lightly used chimney should be inspected annually — animals nest in open flues over summer, and crown cracks don't announce themselves.

Will you make a mess in my living room?

No. We seal off the fireplace opening and run our vacuum the whole time we work, so the soot goes into our equipment rather than onto your floor. We leave the hearth cleaner than we found it.

Do you cover my part of Johns Creek?

We cover all of metro Atlanta and the surrounding suburbs — from Woodstock and Kennesaw in the north to Fayetteville, McDonough and Covington in the south. Enter your address in the form and we'll confirm availability when we call.
